{"id":3781,"date":"2018-01-15T18:35:17","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T17:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tropheejulesverne.org\/?p=3781"},"modified":"2018-01-16T10:41:21","modified_gmt":"2018-01-16T09:41:21","slug":"information-dematage-spindrift-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tropheejulesverne.org\/en\/information-dematage-spindrift-2\/","title":{"rendered":"SPINDRIFT 2 DISMASTS ON WAY TO START OF ROUND THE WORLD RECORD (1\/2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At about 1600h (CET) today, Monday 15 January 2018, Spindrift 2 was sailing just off Point St Matthieu and Camaret in Brittany\u00a0on her way to the start line of the Jules Verne Trophy, when she dismasted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the time the 40m trimaran was sailing at 15-18 knots of boat speed in 30 knot westerly winds and in three metre seas. \u00a0Spindrfit 2 had two reefs in the main and the J3 (ORC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Yann Guichard, skipper of the Maxi Spindrift 2 says:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>&#8220;The crew is safe and sound. Everything happened so fast. The mast fell to the leeward of the boat. The conditions were not so extreme. It&#8217;s too early to know exactly what happened.
